The Consortium for School Networking (CoSN) Horizon Report: 2016 K-12 identifies online learning opportunities as an option for “hundreds of thousands of students…because of homeschooling, medical issues, or engagement in sports, while millions of other students are supplementing their in-class instructions with online courses to complete advanced coursework or gain greater schedule flexibility”.
On Tuesday May 10, Illinois Virtual School attended the 25th annual TECH 2016 “Students for the Information Age” event at the Illinois State Capitol Building in Springfield. More than 100 schools from throughout the state were present, demonstrating to the public and elected members of the State Senate and House of Representatives how technology is being used in the classroom to increase student engagement and improve achievement.
The purpose of the TECH 2016 event was to raise awareness of the critical role technology plays in preparing students to succeed in today’s digital world, and to show the need for increased funding for classroom technology. Students from throughout the state demonstrated creative ways technology is being used to enhance and accelerate students achievement in Illinois Schools.
Illinois Virtual School is proud to have been chosen to attend TECH 2016.
