5 Tips for IVS Students and Parents as you head back to IVS for fall. #IVScan

Welcome Back.  As you join us for fall here are some tips for doing your best with IVS:

  1. Take Notes.

Should students take notes by hand or on laptops? A recent study suggests taking notes on a laptop hinders learning and retention.

2. Call your teacher on the phone.

Students who call their IVS teacher the first week and then throughout the semester report high success rates.

3. Keep up with your schedule.

IVS Teachers will provide a calendar to guide your pace in the course. Keep it, put it in your assignment book and stay on schedule. Most students who need an extension were behind as early as their second week of class.

4.  Plan when to work.

Time to work which is planned is more likely to happen that time which is unplanned. Each regular IVS full service course has the same amount of work as a regular class in face to face. That means 5 hours of class time plus 0-3 hours of homework time per week.

5. Ask for help.

Your IVS instructor is there for you. So don't sit in silence if you have a question. Use that contact info. Aren't you glad you've already called them so you feel comfortable calling now?
