IVS Winter Update

It’s finally feeling like winter here in Illinois and yet IVS is already talking Spring!

Registration for Spring 2018 is now open!  January kicks off the spring term with two full service start dates: 1/4/18 and 1/11/18. Find the rest of our monthly start dates on our website. Credit Recovery courses start any day of the year.

Continuous Improvement

Our curriculum team has been busy all fall updating and adding new courses to be ready for January students, highlights include:

-American Art Honors – American Art is now a two-semester course offered at the Honors level

-Middle School – Science and Social Science Semester 2 courses are now ready for enrollment

-World Literature Regular and Honors Semester 2 are updated and have a fresh new look

-AP Macroeconomics – newly updated

On the technical side, our student information system (Maestro) has been updated to improve function.

Quality Matters at IVS

IVS is prepping to submit our next course for review, American (US) History Semesters 1 and 2. We are currently putting the course through an internal review by one of our QM Master Reviewers to ensure it meets national QM standards for online course design and delivery.

Rachel Droze, from Springfield News Channel 20, recently visited the IVS office to learn more about our program. IVS Director, Cindy Hamblin, sat down with her to talk about how IVS works, and to let her experience the online learning platform from a student’s point of view. Droze also visited Our Saviors Lutheran School and Lutheran High School in Springfield to get their take on how IVS provides supplemental learning opportunities for their students. Illinois Virtual School Director, Cindy Hamblin, on How IVS has Increased Credit Recovery Student Success Rates.

The Virtual Learning Leadership Alliance Blog recently featured an article by IVS Director, Cindy Hamblin, that describes the actions IVS has taken to increase the success rate of Credit Recovery Students. The article details how logical changes IVS has made to the program have resulted in a 15% increase in student success for the reporting period of January 2017 to June 2017 (when compared to January-June of 2016).
