Priest wants new school in Chicago Heights to be a ‘community’ for students

Father David J. Simonetti has so far financed the Pope Benedict XVI Academy of Excellence, which plans to open in the fall, with his own money. The curriculum will encompass the traditional subjects — language arts, mathematics, foreign languages, social studies and science — but there will be some modern touches. Some coursework will incorporate Illinois Virtual School, a supplementary online teaching tool.
